This is the third debate organised by the European Movement International in association with ENEL and with the media support of EurActiv. These debates aim to promote dialogue between stakeholders of the worlds of politics, academia, industry and civil society concerning the future of the European energy market.
As the search for an alternative energy source to fossil fuels is becoming increasingly urgent, there is a rise in the use of nuclear power across Europe. Several EU member states are planning to increase their dependence on nuclear power, and augment production capacity by building more nuclear power plants.
This debate will address the role of nuclear energy and whether its contribution to the new energy goals of the EU, notably sustainability and low emissions, can compensate for concerns about its potential harmfulness to the environment.
You are invited to visit our dedicated blog here where our guest speakers have already opened the discussion.
A reception will follow.
Registration forms should reach us by email at communication@europeanmovement.org or by fax to +32 (0) 2 508 30 89 by 30th June 2008 at the latest.
